Mona George called the meeting to order

·         **Meeting interrupted due to fire alarm**

·         Correction made to number of guard members as listed in the January minutes

·         January, February, March meeting minutes approved

 

Director’s Report, Brian Brown

·         Congratulations to the Winter Guard for making WGI semi-finals and to the Winter Drumline

·         Jr High concert band contest May 14 or 15 at Turpin High School (schedule not yet received) 

o       Will need 6 – 8 chaperones and 2 buses

o       Will need chaperones for each grade

·         Spring concert on May 11th; will need chaperones to stay with each grade level and to hand out programs

·         Will need chaperones for graduation on May 22; will need 2-3 chaperones

·         Will need 6 chaperones for the Memorial Day parade

·         Not participating in the Frontier’s Day parade this year; may try Veteran’s Day

·         Wednesday Jazz Band will perform at the Oasis

·         The brass will perform at the Omni downtown for a memorial breakfast for Dr. Bauer.

·         Will have to move band equipment May 29th

 

President’s Report, Mona George

·         4 cardboard barrels will be donated by Sevachko; guard will use to store flags, poles, etc

·         Melissa Hughes says dvd will be finished and brought to Mona in May

·         Senior band members need to have pictures turned in to Mr. Brown asap

·         Parents have requested water-resistant jackets—would order in black so parents would not be confused w/ band members at shows

·         MEPA is looking for new outlets to host a competition, we may host the Sunday of the same weekend as the Winter Show.

o       Will set the Tri-State first since it is bigger and a better money-maker

                                                        

 

Treasurer’s Report, Joe Haas(out of town)

·         Sent Winter Show report to Mona

·         If there are any questions or concerns please contact Joe

 

 

Executive Committee Reports

Ways and Means, Kim Haas

·         Buy-It books are still being sold, $20 w/ free card

·         May 5th, Buffalo Wild Wings is giving us 10% of all sales

o       Will need someone there at 8:00 pm to pick up the check

o       Will not need a coupon or flyer

·         Kris, Mulch

o       Oversold with the mulch

o       Mulch delivery this Saturday, April 24th

 

Guard VP, Bonnie Johnson

·         High school guard finished season in Dayton for WGI

o       Guard made top 48 with probably their best performance of the season

o       In the top 30 in the nation in their scholastic A class!

·         Try-outs for fall Guard Tuesday, April 27th and April 29th

 

Drumline VP, Mona George

·         Drumline made finals and took 8th in finals

·         Already started for marching season

·         Would like to thank Grandma Carol was a big part of our pit crew!

 

BOA, Scott Tippets

·         Looking for activities for BOA regional in St. Louis, MO

·         Waiting to make reservations because we’re waiting for our performance block (likely will be mid-morning)—should hear about it soon (end of April?)

 

Committee Reports

Equipment, Tony Brewer

·         Need as many volunteers as possible May 29th to move equipment from High School to McCormick

o       Meet at high school at 9:00am

 

Old Business

·         Gym credit for marching band still undecided

o       Will not be decided for this school year

o       May be possibility to earn flex credit

 

Nominating Committee; Connie Duguid, Kelly Shumard, Tony Brewer

·         Thank you from Mona for filling not just executive position but also committee positions

·         No current executive committee filled positions are being contested

o       Connie made the motion; Rul Peck and Kim Haas seconded the motion

Milford Band Boosters By-Laws Section Changes:

·         Section 3, Hospitality

·         Section 5, Finance

·         Section 7, Publicity

·         Section 9, Ways and Means

·         Section 11, Telephone

·         Section 13, Permanent Committees

·         Section 14, Prop Committee

o       Changes read aloud by Mona George

o       Written changes part of meeting hand-outs

o       Would not have own budget

o       May need representation from each of the three activities; Guard, Drumline, Marching Band

o       Prop Committee will be tabled until further clarification

·         Proposed Section 15, Winter Show, will now be Section 14

o       Proposed responsibility read aloud by Mona George

o       Written changes part of meeting hand-outs

·         Voting for changes to Constitution and By-Laws will be at the May meeting

Principal Advisory Committee

·         Will not be meeting anymore this year

·         It will be determined by the in-coming principal if this will continue

o       Could be a committee of presidents (athletic boosters, band boosters, etc)

 

Jake Carpenter and Shayla Galloway

·         Will be marching with the Blue Stars

·         Asked for help with fundraising, not specifically from the boosters organization but to the parents of band members.
