Milford Band Booster Meeting

Mona George called the meeting to order

·         Bring January and  February meeting minutes to April’s meeting for approval

 

Director’s Report, Brian Brown

·         Mr. Shramack--Please keep only adults/chaperones and students on the bus to Disney

·         Thank you to those who came to the OMEA performance and Tony Brewer for hauling equipment.

·         Recruitment of kids coming into 7th grade; worked plan Shawn Landen went to talk to all the band kids at each elementary school.  Now have 88 students in band for 7th grade!

·         Emily Moeller, student teacher

·         Brian Brown—OMEA both groups earned straight Superior marks at OMEA

·         Now have a brass choir that our trombone teacher, andew Peeples, will be playing with the jazz band in April.  Will also be performing at Dr. Bauer’s memorial breakfast.

·         Thanks to all that helped in any capacity at the winter show this past weekend.  Many compliments about show, judges were happy, adult supervision.

·         Senior band students will be going to Cedar Point.  Question about using band money for this trip—trying to scheduled performance.

 

President’s Report, Mona George

·         Thanks to all who helped with the Winter Show.  A big thank you to Connie Evans for volunteering who time to serve as cafeteria staff for our show.  The janitorial staff also thanked us for not making a mess.

·         Rachel Murdock, vp of drumline, did a phenomenal job. 

·         Thanks to the Amateur Radio club for helping with communication

·         Nancy House has implemented a program to recognize students on a daily basis for good deeds.  Will be issuing certificates for students to redeem at the bookstore.

 

Treasurer’s Report, Joe Haas

·         Expense activity for winter guard and drumline travel expenses.

·         No solid numbers yet, but sold 1045 admission tickets; over $14000 in cash deposited but solid numbers not in yet.  Still waiting for receipts to come in.

·         Starting to work on preliminary numbers for next season’s marching band budget

 

 

Committee Reports

Guard, Bonnie Johnson

·         Elementary guard performed this past weekend at our winter show.

·         Jr guard placed 2nd at Milford; having a good year

·         High School guard placed 1st at Milford, 2nd at Simon Kenton

·         TriState Championships this Saturday at Ryle High School

·         Our high school guard is ranked 25th in WGI

·         High School tryouts April 27th and 29th; after auditions will have a schedule for the summer

·         Thank you to all who helped with the winter show

 

Drumline, Mona George

·         Place 2nd at the Milford show and 1st on Sunday

 

BOA, Scott Tippets

·         Looking for activities in St. Louis for the students

 

Equipment, Tony Brewer

·         Everything running smoothly

 

Senior Parent, Lisa Hilderbrand

·         Working on senior night

 

Publicity, Gary Presley

·         Alumni working on facebook page for alumni possibly try to support the band/generate funds

 

Ways and Means, Kim Haas

·         Buy it books, $25, all books will have a free card this year

·         Fair share amount yet to be determined

·         Dining Out opportunities in May, June, and July

 

Band Council, Mallory Hellanthal

New Business

·         Need to refresh the nominating committee with an odd number of people (at least 3 people) Tony Brewer, Connie DuGuid, Jan Wulker

·         Will be nominating and voting at the April meeting and would begin duties in May
