Mona George called the meeting to order
· Minutes were reviewed—no additions or corrections; minutes approved
President’s Report, Mona George
· Band Store—open for the first week, taken in $594 in our first week!
o If anyone wants to volunteer or sub please let Mona know
· Since we’re going to Florida we’ll go to a regional BOA in St. Louis in October 16th
o September 24th will be the band senior night since the high school senior is October 15th (the band will be in St. Louis) our band seniors will be recognized at half time on September 24
· Please send in letters to support having Marching Band students receive PE credit for participation
· Please sign-up to help/volunteer for the winter show
o 54 schools signed up
Treasurer’s Report, Joe Haas
· 1099’s sent out to private instructors
· Winter Guard/Drum line budgets need to be validated by directors
· Store will be added to financial system
· Marching band season estimates are being collected;
o Trying to do a cost per child budget
o Will need to review what worked and what didn’t work last year using this system
o Tentatively not in the hole for marching band
· District pays for part of the instructor’s fee and the group covers the rest
Director’s Report, Mr. Schrameck
· The 8th grade band will be performing at 7:30 am at the OMEA conference on March 20th at the Millennium Hotel in the grand ballroom
· Low numbers (around 45 – 50) in Jr. High, thus high school band numbers will be low for awhile until we are able to recruit more band students
Committee Reports
Guard, Bonnie
· First competition February 6
o Props almost done
· 23 in elementary, 16 in Jr. High, 11 in High School
· Working on Winter Guard/Drum line show
· One overnight competition at the WGI in Indy in March, other WGI competitions will be local
Drum line, Mona
· Winter show March 20th
· First competition this week; 5 shows this season
BOA, Scott Tippets
· Looking forward to getting started to next season
Equipment, Tony Brewer
· Finishing construction on bird cage 15 by 20 ft bird cage, painted gold for the high l
· Will be hauling the 8th band to the Millennium hotel on March 20th; any and all help would be appreciated
o Practice for loading Wednesday night January 27
· Drum line will need hauling as well that day (March 20th)
Publicity, Gary Presley
· Will be getting publicity w/ the Advertiser for the Winter Guard and Drum line as soon as the reporter comes out for interviews
New Business
· Need to set dates for mulch sales and get fliers ready (Kris Baker)
o April 24th delivery date? Orders would be due March 26th (Friday before spring break)
o Based on April 24 would need to start selling March 1st
o Need help/volunteers for mulch;
§ Extra trucks (drivers and hitches)
§ Access to flatbed trailers would be helpful
§ Will not offer pine nuggets this year; double, triple, and cypress
§ Prices should remain the same as last year (0.50/bag to sell, $1.00/bag if you work and sell)
Band Council, Mallory Hellenthal
o Food choice was good
o Popsicles were great during band camp
o C-Notify works well
o Wish there were more band pictures on the web site
o Chaperones weren’t as available and/or approachable as they were in years past
o Would like for food to be kept warm longer
o Baskets for the guard show: would appreciate ideas for baskets and will set a price limit
§ A date not necessary to be on the guard show t-shirt
