Milford Band Boosters Minutes

April 1, 2008

CALL TO ORDER:  Distributed to attendees: Sign-in sheet, Finance Report, February Minutes

FEBRUARY MINUTES:  Minutes approved without revision.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Brenda Bayne – $389 donations collected at latest Band Concert.  The fund raiser for Jazz Band raised $1199 towards the purchase of new music.  Tri-State Circuit (coordinators of the Guard/Drumline show canceled due to inclement weather on March 10) has agreed to roll over the $400 paid for this year into next year;  only minimal costs of pork and shirts were spent on the cancelled show.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  Kim Slade – Nominations Committee still needs someone to take over the VP of Ways and Means; might be better suited to get a team to work together or split out the specific fund raisers.  Discussion ensued related to the Telephone Tree and whether this outdated mode of communication could be replaced.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT:  All met with the 8th grade parents tonight.  Critical recruiting year as the 7th grade band is very small, but the 8th grade is huge and we need to get a lot of them involved to offset the entering class of 2009.  Mr. Brown reported that on April 26th (later after the mulch day) the Jazz Band to play at Northern KY Jazz Band Festival as well as later performances this month at the Fireman’s Hall for the local Senior Citizens and the OASIS Performance “Commitment to Excellence.”

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Ways & Means:  Kim Haas – Mulch sale is underway.  Many volunteers are needed and student signup coordination is necessary to cover the full day.  Four hour shifts will be scheduled for a student to earn their full fair share.  April 26 is delivery day.  Lunch will be provided.
