Milford Band Boosters Minutes
October 23, 2007
CALL TO ORDER: Distributed to attendees: Sign-in sheet, Finance Report, September Minutes
SEPTEMBER MINUTES: Minutes approved without revision.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Brenda Bayne – October has been a very exciting month! We have received a $200 check from the Anderson Community Band contribution and Tim Gerber brought us in under budget on the St Louis BOA trip. Report accepted without revision.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Kim Slade – Sincere appreciation to Tim and to everyone who helped with the St Louis trip. Everything seemed to go extremely well (except the elevators breaking on Sunday!). It was truly a great weekend for the band.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Mr. Brown – Thanks to everyone again for everything on this trip – especially to Tim. The kids had a great experience all around – could have been better to make the Saturday show, but that’s how it goes. The kids got to see some really good bands in finals, and they’ve been buzzing about it ever since. Logistics – Disney Meeting 11/13 6:00 pm - to go over all details about the trip. Extra Disney rehearsal that afternoon from 3:00 – 4:30. November 15 Holiday Parade – probably not going to be in our uniforms since its right before we leave for Disney. Midstates Competition is November 3 with our performance at 8:45 pm. This should be a really good show and a good competition. Honor Band auditions are 10/29 from 6:00 – 9:00pm at Walnut Hills.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Ways & Means: Kim Haas -
Capital Campaign: Lisa Cieslewicz – Two letters sent asking for $$ for third trailer – no responses received back.
SCRIP, Krogers, Meijers, Dominos, Panera: Joe Haas – No report.
Delegate at Large: Raylene Gerber – No report.
Chaperones: Bev and Theresa – Wow, what a great time. Thanks, too, to Raylene Gerber for quietly helping us in St. Louis. No issues – everything went very well.
Equipment: Bob Slade – Thanks to all for their help – no penalties at BOA this year. One more performance and Kings is wide open, so he can use any pit volunteers who wish to come forward. Bob reports getting a first estimate on a third trailer. A box trailer just like we have now – 24 foot, with a V-nose for winds – brand new – lights, trailer electric brakes - $5495. A recommendation came from the floor to investigate purchasing new podiums – ours are pretty old and not easy to maneuver. Mr. Brown has catalogs we can review to see pricing.
Drumline: Ann Shook – We have orders for flocking, but with the rain we’ve held off a little. Thanks to Gary Presley and Lisa Cieslewicz for the extra press to get things going for us.
Guard: Connie Duguid – Nothing really to report.
Membership: Julia Foster – No new report.
Marching Band Uniforms: Kathy Christopher – Everything’s laundered and returned.
Senior Committee: Susan Sferra – no report.
BOA: Tim Gerber – The BOA trips take a lot of planning and you depend on everyone going on the trip to step up and everyone really did a great job in doing just that. The kids had a great time, something different from Indy and many of the kids hadn’t been to St Louis before. Thanks to everyone that helped out.
Hospitality/Refreshments: Cindy Bachman – Cookies needed for Friday night.
Publicity: Gary Presley – No report, but Kim extended our appreciation for his putting us out in the public.
Food: Lisa Cieslewicz and Ang Kovatch will prepare a traditional chili dinner before the Kings competition – we want to do it up special since it’s the last competition of the season.
Old Business/Unfinished Business: Haven’t had a chance to discuss the ice machine yet, but certainly will before next year’s Band Camp.
New Business: Susan Sloan wants pictures from St Louis!!!
