PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  This has been a fun but challenging year with our financial situation.  A HUGE THANK YOU to the Directors, our Executive Committee, Committee Chairs, and everyone that volunteered in various capacities this year.  We couldn’t have enjoyed a successful year without everyone’s help!  We’d also like to thank the students for their enthusiastic efforts this past year in helping raise the needed money to help fund the trip to Youngstown.  We’ll miss you all!

DIRECTORS’ REPORTS:

Mr. Brown

Mr. Schrameck

Ms. Towner – We had 96 students that participated in the 7th Grade Band Contest and received straight superior ratings!  They did a great job and Mr. Schrameck is really proud of them.  Mr. Brown says Drumline will perform Saturday morning at American Legion Hall.  The Spring Concert will be this Thursday beginning at 7:00pm in gym.  8 Chaperones will be needed (2 for each group).

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Ways and Means:

Biggs Bagging Day – Kim Haas - Bigg’s grocery bagging. Only 3 spots remain on 6/24, 1 on 6/10.

Mulch Sale –Jenna Atkinson –  Thank you to everyone that volunteered to drive and load/unload mulch last Saturday.  Over 5000 bags were delivered with none leftover!  Our goal for next year is to recruit more drivers.  We had a lot of down time in the parking lot as we were waiting for trucks to return to be reloaded.  Also, thank you to Cindy Bachman and Robyn Carroll for our delicious food!

Coney Island Flower Show – Ann Shook – We received the check this week for a little more than $300.  Fair share to be allocated.

Max & Erma’s Band night—20% of sales back if we use the coupon. Wednesday, May 30th.

Car washes coming up at Wal Mart. 6/2 and 6/30. We need lots of help. If there is someone who would like to organize a bake sale at the same time / place, let me know.  Ink cartridge check for $115.15 just arrived. Keep the cartridges coming.  Buddy Cards will be sold late July / early August, so let your family and friends know you’ll have them. They will be a fair share fundraiser, $4 per card.  Laser Web 8/3 (first Friday of band camp) 11P-6A. Tickets to be pre sold. Need help to organize to sell hot dogs, soda, chips, candy, etc.  There was a suggestion to investigate using the promotional board out on the street to promote fundraisers.

DELEGATE AT LARGE:  Teresa Essex – Mrs. Towner reported that the Board is looking for someone to fill her position as well as a part-time band instructor.

CHAPERONES:  Teresa Wandstrat - Chaperones needed for the Spring Concert (8 total), Graduation (4 chaps), and the Memorial Day and Frontier Days Parades (8 chaps needed).  If you’re looking for a way to get involved, please consider chaperoning an event.

EQUIPMENT:  Bob Slade – We’re trying to get the trailers re-painted for next year and the BOE will pay for paint and supplies with Boosters only going to have to pay for the labor of the paint job.  We need to recruit help to set up and take down chairs for the Spring Concert this Thursday.

DRUMLINE:  Cathy Evans – Holding auditions to set the Marching Band line.  Cathy extended a sincere note of thanks for everyone’s help over the past four years.

GUARD:  Connie Dugoid – Rehearsing with 24 members; training on sabers.  There will need to be fundraising efforts to pay for the new sabers – they’re excellent  quality and should last, but that makes them more expensive.  Hope to have a huge rummage sale soon at Wind & Withers with food, coffee drinks, car wash, etc… donation receipts for tax exemptions will be available.  Hope to do this July 7th

MEMBERSHIP:  Julia Foster – Button supplies needed and will be purchased in June.

MARCHING UNIFORMS  - Kathy Christopher – Another website found to try to sell old uniforms.  There is another avenue where we can donate them to a costume company so they won’t just be discarded.

CONCERT UNIFORMS – Kathy Christopher – Concert uniforms will need to be dry-cleaned.  Sue will be here tomorrow for the guys that want to check out tuxes to wear to prom.  Tuxes will need to be returned so that we can send them out for cleaning after Commencement.

SPRING BANQUET – Connie Duguid – Invitations are out.  Program draft should be ready on Wednesday.  Reservations will also be available at the Spring Concert.  Connie will check with Susan Sloan to make sure the auditorium folks are ready for the AV presentation.  Susan will be asked to contact the auditorium manager for details.

NEW BUSINESS:

Disney Trip – Brenda Bayne – 143 deposits (including 11 adults) sent.  Kim Haas is the parent coordinator for the event.  Payment books will be mailed from New Horizons to those that sent in deposits.

There was discussion to place an order for 225 raincoats from FJM Company at an approximate cost of $15,000.  We have a sample raincoat to review (but it has not been screenprinted).  It will take 12 – 14 weeks for the raincoats to be made.  In order to have them for the competition season, we need to order now.  A motion was raised and seconded to purchase the coats now – place the order.  Further, a motion was raised and seconded to donate the old coats to the Cincinnati Free Store/St Vincent DePaul.

We have raised $8700 in donations so far.  Potentially, the BOE may cover the costs of transportation for away games and competitions.  If they agree to do this, we’ll have that money we had earmarked for transportation.

There was discussion about the marching band fee if participation fee is dropped to $125.  A final vote will be taken on Thursday at the BOE meeting.  If the BOE approves the reduction of the participation fee, there is a proposal to lower band fee to $550 to balance the budget for 2007-08.  The motion was approved and seconded.

There were kind and tearful words of best wishes to Jodi for the past 8 years.  She has been a talented teacher and tremendous champion for our kids.  Parents and students alike will miss her.

Patti and Steve officially hand over the gavel to Kim Slade and Mike Carroll, the new Co-Presidents.  Kim appreciates the support she and Mike have received so far.  She promises to strive for open communication and encourages you to keep the lines of communications open.  Contact either of them if you have suggestions or questions, and Kim/Mike promise to respond in a timely manner.
