PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Steve Howes is out of town, meeting directed by Patty Holshouser.  The Grand National competition this year was a very rewarding experience, kids enjoyed weekend.  There were many parents who came and helped, could not do it without you!  Our wonderful trailer drivers, chaperones, parents in charge and who helped with food, and the travel and hotel accommodations. A big THANK YOU to everyone that helped make this marching band season a huge success!!  We had an awesome conclusion to this year’s season with our band qualifying for semi-finals in Indianapolis!!!

DIRECTORS’ REPORTS:

Mr. Brown – The Boa weekend was great and the whole season was great!  Boa trip came off very well.  Leadership workshop was great, and the food all was great and worked out well.  Mr. Brown felt good about everything, and had a great time.  The concern from the national BOA program for our band program was very supportive, and they are doing everything they can to help in any way they can.  Thanks to everyone for their efforts. Its sets good examples for the kids.

Jr high concert on Dec 12th, high school on 14th.  I don’t think we need chaperone for jr high, will need someone for high school.  District 14 honor band at walnut hills, 15 high school students (this is the most of any band in the Cincinnati area.) made it and 13 jr high. It starts at 3.  Will be good, our band students are doing a Milford greatest hits program.

A Group of brass players played Christmas music at downtown Milford over the thanksgiving weekend, fri, sat, sun and was a big hit.  Thanks to them!

Winter percussion and guard are firing up tonight with tryouts.  Always exciting to go to the next season. Jr. high guard again going to take place with the older high school guard members instructing them.

Questions raised as to whether the board knows our dire situation and how talented our kids are.  Also asked what cuts will be made…. Mr. brown stated that there will be meetings soon to discuss this and he doesn’t want to see this great program hurt, and he will do everything he can to prevent cuts to the program.  We need to be constructive and follow through the right way.

Mr. Brown wants the boosters to know how much he appreciates what the boosters have done to help fund the band this year.  This is what education is all about!

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Ways and Means: spirit wear orders will be taken soon, don’t know if they will be back by Christmas.  An additional script due dec. 3 at 6pm.  Will be quick turn around.

Biggs Bagging Day – Kim Haas – A big thank you to everyone that participated.  Your hard work brought in $926.50!

Fruit Sale -Susan Sferra – Fruit sale orders were tallied on Monday and sent in today.  We need parent and student volunteers for the day of delivery – Dec 9th.  Big thank you to everyone who tallied orders last night.  Lisa c., patty b, cathy e.  We sold 342 loaves of bread, that is phenomenal!  Excited to see jr. high students having orders.   We are going to use the commons and main entrance, loading docks, and cafeteria on Saturday morning to deliver sales orders.

Yards Signs/Alumni Donations – Lisa Hilderbrand – Be sure to buy your yard sign!

Grants, Raincoat Campaign, and MBB Capital Campaign – Lisa Cieslewicz – we submitted a request to Scripps-Howard broadcasting for about $16,000 for grants for raincoat request.  We have to wait and see what happens.  Also, we would like to find 8 corporate partners to each give us $5,000.   Will try to appeal to large corporations in Miami township who have had tax abatements and may be willing to support us.  Suggested companies, p&g, Kroger, target, walmart, sam’’s club.  It is suggested that the new Milford Walmart grand opening may be a good opportunity to have the band students play, maybe jazz band.   No date set for that.

SCRIP, KROGERS, MEIJERS, DOMINOS, PANERA:  Kim Haas -

DELEGATE AT LARGE:  Teresa Essex – At the last board meeting the emergency levy on the February ballot was discussed.  Generally to keep transportation and local elementary schools as they are.

CHAPERONES:  Teresa Wandstrat and Kim Haas  -Thank you to every who helped chaperone this marching season.  Could not do it without you!

EQUIPMENT:  Bob Slade – Bob extends a great thanks to the pit crew! The tractor was returned to Clermont County Equipment.  Will give them a token of appreciation, normally fruit given.  Thank you to Joe Haas for the outside outlet outside the band room, lights in shed are great! Any volunteers for winter percussion season to pull trailers would be great!  We need 3 drivers.

DRUMLINE:  Cathy Evans – Winter Drumline has its last audition this evening, and then the line will be set tonight.  At a future date there will be a meeting for all parents of the winter drumline.  I should be receiving a date in the near future from Eric Kraft.

On a side note, this past weekend, there were tryouts in Toledo for the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps.  Three of our students made the first cut and were asked back in 2 weeks.  They were Eric Cielslewicz, Ashley Sferra, and Paul Morgan.  This is quite an accomplishment, since drum corps don’t age out until age 22.  One of our alumni, Kris Howard, also was called back.  Congratulations to these kids, says a lot for them and the Milford program!

GUARD:  Amy Bain – tonight is the guard audition night.  Should be set within the next week or so. We will retain Drew Steinbrecher as director and Megan Iles as technician. They have done an awesome job with our colorguard this year!

MEMBERSHIP:  Julia Foster - nothing new to report.  Thanks to Julia for the great job this year!

MARCHING UNIFORMS  - Kathy Christopher  -Thanks to everyone doing laundry.  And for everyone helping to keep eye on uniforms, letting us know when they need buttons, etc. Great how everyone works together; it makes it fun for all of us, and especially the kids.

CONCERT UNIFORMS – Laura Bauscher

Uniform fittings are turning around quickly, and should be ready.

SENIOR COMMITTEE:  Ramona Fisch  - no report

BOA:  Tim Gerber – absent at meeting :

We received a $233 refund from the holiday inn.  About $1000 under budget, due to the Croswell buses more than anticipated, and the hotel was more.  Tim did a great job, meals were super and saved us money..  Just an awesome job.   Received a memo from the holiday inn.  What a great group of kids, have hosted many bands from the boa and Indy 500, NEVER had a better group of kids!  From the holiday inn manager.  Will pass this onto the band kids!  A lot of groups gave us compliments about how well behaved our kids were.  The post road Mcdonald’s was appreciative too!

HOSPITALITY/REFRESHMENTS:  Robyn Carroll and Cindy Bachman

Thanks to everyone for donations, goody bags went over well.  Will be seeking cookies for the high school concert.  Will be doing breakfast and lunch at the fruit sale – doughnuts and pizza, and hot chocolate.  Any adults that could spare some time, please try to come to the fruit sale and help.

PUBLICITY:  Sue Thiele -  Have had article in hometown enquirer, next weeks paper has article about the guard.  Article written for examiner, staff reporter came and did front page story last week.  Editorial in paper.    Thank you Sue, we appreciate all of your efforts to keep our kids in the news!

OLD BUSINESS/UNFINISHED BUSINESSTag Day was held at both Milford Kroger stores on Nov 4th and were a success.  Thank you to all of the students and parents that participated.  $975 was raised.   We had our first community Exhibition Show the following Monday and had a very nice turnout.  We received $63 in donations at the gate.  Miami Glen’s dance for Nov 4th was cancelled due to a duplicate booking at the Milford Fire Fighters Hall.

NEW BUSINESSMr. Brown is running into an issue for winter drumline and winter guard to practice.  If anyone know a large place we could use, like a church or can think of anything, email Mr. Brown and we can check into this.  Will send a broadcast email out.
