PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Jill Waeber – Thank you to everyone who helped with the band efforts this year. You made my job relatively easy. I will miss all of you!
We had the pizza party for the raffle winners. This was paid for with gift certificates left over from the guard show and a buskin bakery certificate and it did not cost the boosters or anyone anything!
It has been a pleasure working with you. Thank you very much.
APRIL MINUTES: Corrections or additions? Minutes accepted as posted.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Patty Holshauser –Not a lot of activity. We paid to have our taxes done this year.
Due to the levy not passing, there will be an additional band fee required from each band member.
-Move to accept treasurers report. Treasurer’s report accepted.

Mr. Schrameck: want to thank Mrs. Lambing getting chaperones together for our concerts and competitions. And Mr. Howes has helped so much and thanks to everyone who helped out Tuesday night. Jr. high contest at turpin high school on Saturday, open to public. Come and enjoy would be great to have big crowd. The spring concert this past Tuesday is overwhelming, it is an awesome concert for the parents and kids to see this and have had a few kids that were not going to continue band, but after the concert have changed their minds. It means a lot to the kids and has an impact on the kids.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Ways and means – Jenna Atkinson- not much to report at this time. Panera will now be handled with the scripts.
Delegate at Large: Teresa Essex – not here, at board meeting
Marching uniforms/Concert uniforms = Laura – nothing new to report
Chaperones – Wendy Lambing & Ramona Fish - 3 more events- Graduation covered, 12 chaperones for memorial day parade, only 8 for frontier days, could use more help with that.
Equipment – Steve Howes – nothing new to report.
Drum line – Cathy Evans – We had end of season party and welcoming the new freshman into the group.
Color guard – things are good. 23 girls at this time, some previous members may want to return since they are hearing good things about the group, so the number could grow. Mr. brown feeling good about the new color guard.
Hospitality and Refreshments: Jaime - thanks for all those that helped at the concert, had lots of cookies. Very well attended.
Senior Committee: Vickie Pielsticker - at board meeting, getting cedar point trip approved.
Awards banquet, could use to help decorate at 3:30, dinner at 6:00.
Also need lots of hands to clean up after the dinner.
Boa – Tim Willard – buses booked, started to work on trips and indy. Probably stay not downtown. Kids don’t seem to care where they stay, downtown or out. We have a Thursday afternoon competition scheduled, will try to stay and not go to school the next day.
Website: Tom Rocklin doing a great job as always! Thanks to him for all his help!
OLD BUSINESS -
Committee members, turn your binder over to the new committee heads tonight, if you have it available. It can really help them out.
As it is tradition for the outgoing Booster President to give something to the boosters, Jill made brownies for everyone so please help yourselves after the meeting. Also, Jill and Ken Waeber are making a monetary donation to the Boosters for food at band camp next year, a Kroger gift card.
Jill officially handed over the gavel to Steve Howes and Patti Holshauser as the New Co-presidents.
Jill was presented with a thank you gift from the Band Boosters. She received a beautiful Longaberger basket for her great job all year! We will miss you Jill!
NEW BUSINESS-
New Presients: Steve Howes and Patti Holshauser - to make the budget work if the levy did not work, things had to be cut. Trip to Youngstown, food, etc. Due to feedback from the kids, disappointment for not going to Youngstown, a new decision was made, kids willing to fundraise to go to Youngstown. Ways and means meeting tonight, letter to corporations, some sent already, local businesses will be contacted for donations. For a certain tier, donating businesses will receive advertisement on the band trailers. A letter will be sent to the home of all band alumni asking for donations. And see if any families will be willing to donate. Also going to put a link on the website for a donor form.
Steve has volunteered to run a tag day. Band kids knock on the doors of residents in the Milford school district and ask for donations for the Band. They wear their uniforms and some band kids will maybe play music as others knock on doors, all with chaperones close by. This will be sometime in the fall. Maybe someone will sponsor the tag and have their info on the back of the tags. Sycamore makes around $25,000 off their tag day fund raisers. We may do this over two weekends, looking for commitment from the kids, pretty confident that we can get a local business to sponsor the tags, make some reasonable amount of money from this. We need to make a presence in our community.
-It is suggested that maybe we should get a sign for the band members yards to show a band member lives here, such as the cheerleader, and sports teams have.
-Dominoes will go into the band fund. Kim’s son kyle has spent so much time looking for ideas for our fundraisers. We will start our ink cartridges recycle program, thanks to Kyle.
-Youngstown will be an up and back trip, no overnighter. We have done this in the past, and it can work just fine and is not unusual to do.
-We want to give the band kids the full experience next year, even though we have our money issues. We have run surpluses for the past couple of years, the fundraisers will minimize the risk of using up the surpluses.
-Brian Brown thinks it is incredible for the boosters, to take on so much more responsibilities. He says thank you so much, and that it says so much about this organization.
-We have someone lined up to paint the trailers and prepared to put the sponsors names on them as well.
-One positive thing from the levy, Steve was at both rallies, our bands had a presence and recognized by several people in our community. Amazing turnout from the band kids, Mulberry principal brought our 6th grade band kids up on the stage. It was really nice to see.
-Patti - was suggested to look into grants, have a new incoming band parent who jumped in with this idea, Lisa Cieslewisz. She has been busy looking into grants for us, for new pit equip and other band equipment as well. Thanks, Lisa and welcome to Milford Band Boosters!
-No hope for band in the 6th grades thus far. If the levy passes in November, possibility of starting in 2nd semester.
Will go to all elementary schools next week and try to find the interest and let the interested students and parents know that there is a program and there will be hope for them, just not this coming year. It is very unfortunate. This years 6th grade is a bumper crop! May want to look at a parent who could be a contact person to these 6th grade kids who are interested until we can get them going.
Steve and patti- Motion to adjourn the meeting, and was seconded. Meeting adjourned at 8:25pm .
Respectfully submitted,
Band Booster Secretary
