Milford Band Booster Minutes

March 28, 2006

CALL TO ORDER: 7:30 pm  -  Sign in sheet

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Jill Waeber – There were so many generous volunteers for the Drumline/Winterguard show and so much enthusiasm this year!  Largest turnout of student volunteers ever.  Really cool to see the kids supporting the group, it was very good.  Thank you to everyone!

Mulch sale went very smooth and was completed by mid afternoon.

The new concert uniforms looked fabulous at our last concert.

Hospitality has done OMEA large group snacks; they went above and beyond, thank you very much.

Remember to vote and remember the impact on our school and band program.

School has websites to talk about tax levy, so be sure to check them out!

Ballots next month for new Band booster officers, so be thinking about this.

SEPTEMBER MINUTES: Corrections or additions?  Minutes accepted as posted.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Patty Holshauser – mulch sale looks fabulous because we have not paid for the mulch yet. And remember that most of the profits will go into the students fair share accounts.  The winter show looks great… net income $7521, still have to pay some bills.

Basket raffle $1518.  This was the best idea to have sections come up with baskets, we have never done this before and we have never done so well.  Next year we can expect to do even better because the public will be able to be more prepared for this type of basket raffle.  Thank you to Wendy and Sherry Nolan.

Cathy and Marla Hejma thank you for your help with the show.

Erin LaMontagne brought in $48 in caricature drawings and Melissa Hayes made the buttons that were sold.

The money will be split 3 ways, the general band booster fund, Winterguard, Drumline. BIG THANKYOU TO EVERYONE!

DIRECTORS’ REPORTS:

Mr. Brown-   the winterguard show was great so, thank you for making it so successful.  Talking to other directors, they had positive things to say about how friendly, organized it was this year.  I want to thank the parents who took care of judges food -  Cathy Evans in particular for all of her help.  Every thing was great.

Thank you to all involved.

The concert and symphonic band district were large groups, both received superior and 1 ratings from each judge.  This is the highest you can get.  We had the only 2 bands in district 14 to receive this rating.  Great job!

Mr. Schrameck: We had 8th grade parent meeting talked about marching band and fees, if you know of an 8th grade band member, please contact them and see if they have concerns, encourage involvement with band boosters.  Means a lot to hear this from parents.

Solo and ensemble contest for junior high, we had 17 events and 14 rec’d superior and 3 excellent.  Kids did really well.

Jr high concert at 7 at Jr high tomorrow night.  And Jr high contest in may.

Mrs. Towner- I want to thank the chaperones for the helping at the concert that night, they really helped me that night, proud of how kids played.  We have the packets for next years marching band available.   A couple of things are different.  Band camp schedules are different and fair share program is different.  Need pages 3 and 4 back after spring break and with the first payment.  Thanks for all your help.

NEW BUSINESS-

Steve and Harry and pit crew people have kept the equip together for us.  How is equipment purchases determined?

Mr. Brown says it is in rotation, pit stuff is coming up, but with budget cuts, don’t know how this will go.

It is so expensive, paid for by board of education usually.

Policy for $1 mulch sale, will kids who had to compete the day of delivery not get their extra money?  It was stated that they will get their full money if they were at the competition that day.

Dates for rest of year on back of meeting agenda.

Jill Waeber- Motion to adjourn, seconded. Meeting adjourned at 8:25.

Respectfully submitted,

Band Booster Secretary
